Here this
horse has been bred for more than 1000 years, and it went through a
long and very successful adaptation process. On Iceland the
Viking Horse has
always been an integral part of the symbiosis between the landscape, plants, animals, micro-organisms, and of course humans, too. Sometimes the
condition under which Iceys are kept in Iceland especially during the winter
time seems not to be optimum. However, these horses are used to this situation,
and they are strong enough to get along with it easily.
The situation worsens dramatically if
Iceys have to leave Iceland. On the
continent the symbiotic situation which the horses are used to is not
existing any longer very often. They now have to overcome problems with different
feeding, drinking water, housing, ecology, and also different energetic conditions. As a result
many Iceys on the continent develop diseases which are virtually unknown to
their
sisters and brothers on Iceland.
The main and most money consuming health problem of the Icey is a syndrome which
is called 'sweet itch' or 'summer eczema' because it mainly occurs in summer
time. Numerous studies have been performed to find a good treatment regime for
this nasty disease, but up to now only little work was done to find its real
origin. So an allergy against the bites of midges which are not present on
Iceland is often blamed to be the wrongdoer; but how could it then be that many
Viking Horses which live in a real mosquito area are free of eczema?
It is often forgotten or not even accepted that
Iceys on the continent in
many cases have lost their symbiotic environment. As a result there is no exchange of
symbiotic energy anymore. In fact, this causes severe metabolic and also
spiritual problems to the horses. Therefore, many Iceys mourn extremely when they
are brought away from Iceland.
Due
to the lack of environmental vital energy which has a very high level on
Iceland, many Iceys on the continent are getting problems with their
energy flow especially on those energy
meridians (stomach/spleen-pancreas = earth, bladder/kidney
= water) which normally connect the energy system of the horses to Gaia,
the Mother Earth. The emotional problems may intensify the blockade of
the energy meridians.
It can be shown that within
the sick body the blocked metabolic energy is accumulating mainly in the blood
resulting in a lack of metabolic turnover in the
connective tissue. Only a small
fraction of metabolic energy can then be excreted over urine and faeces. Since a proper
metabolism especially within the liver and the intestines is needed to
eliminate toxins and degradation products the elimination has to be performed by
other ways.
These ways are dependent on the genetic constitution of the horse.
In other breeds the ways may be the lungs, in the Iceys it is mainly the skin
leading to eczema.
Blood
sucking insects are very sensitive to the accumulation of vital energy in the
blood and also to metabolic waste products in the sweat. So it is no
wonder that Iceys with eczema are very attractive to their tormentors, and
the blocked energy meridians can be traced by the location of the skin changes.
The summer eczema is often treated symptomatically with suppressive methods,
such as corticoids, antibiotics, or 'eczema fluids'. However, these methods may even worsen the
metabolic situation because they choke the important elimination pathway over
the skin. Also in alternative equine medicine numerous treatments were tried with
some success.
However, the experience shows that
especially a holistic energetic and regulatory treatment which also includes the restitution of a normal symbiotic environment of the horse is able
to make the life of the Icey worth living apart from Iceland.
Besides
the correction of housing and feeding a successful holistic therapy of the
summer eczema consists of an homeopathic
treatment, a removal of the emotional and energetic blockages
by 'energetic
healing', and a supply with environmental vital energy by
special Energy Plates, which are buried on the local chakras
(energetic breathing points) of the Earth.
In
many cases the holistic method is
able to heal the summer eczema, and it also regulates the
relationship of the symbiotic partners including the horses. After the symbiosis of all partners has been regulated also the insects
and their bites are no longer a problem for horses and humans, too.
